FaciIities and Infrastructure
Computer laboratory
The Institute provides latest computer infrastructure to meet the current and emerging needs of students. The computers in the lab are connected through Local Area Network (LAN) with Pentium Server. Each computer is well equipped with various applications namely office automation applications, data base management applications, Graphics and multimedia Applications, Programming languages, client server applications. The operating platforms being used are Unix, Windows 98, Windows 2000 server, Windows 2000 professional and Windows XP. Computer Laboratory has been well equipped with 92 terminals, which includes Pentium IV, Pentium III and Celeron processors. Apart from the requirements of the curriculum, Institute also has ‘Broad Band’ internet facility to facilitate the students, faculty and management for better networking and skills enhancement.
Library
The Institute has a well-equipped library with more than 4000 books and reports on various subjects. The Institute subscribes to 47 management and computer journals and 14 magazines. Apart from journals and magazines, 14 national and state level Newspapers and economic dailies are also subscribed. Institute is a member of British Library too, which provides access to additional Journals, periodicals and books to the Institute
Hostel
The Institute provides hostel facilities to boys and girls separately, where every room has the capacity of two and three students for stay. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. The hostels are well connected by public transport system and communication facilities.
Social activities
The Institute regularly organises various cultural and social activities. Functions such as Independence Day, Republic Day and Teachers’ Day are celebrated by students, faculty and staff members with sincere patriotic sprit. Cultural activities such as music concerts and cultural nights are celebrated with enthusiastic fervour.
Insurance coverage
Students are insured under ‘Students Safety Insurance’ policy with New India Insurance Company Ltd.
Industrial visits and orientation
To familiarise the students with the real life nature of management, it is imperative to confront them with real work situation and actual problems of different complexities for solutions. Industrial visits provide an interface between the students and actual organizational environment. Industrial orientation is aimed at helping the students to understand the practical aspects of what they study in the classrooms theoretically.
PIMD Students’ Club
PIMD promotes a wide range of activities that serve the professional and intellectual interest of the students. The Students’ Club provides a platform to students for expressing their talents and acquired knowledge. The Club organises various competitions, quizzes and cultural programs. Every year institute organises its annual festival Utsav, which is purely a cultural activity with variety of events. The Institute has organised four such festivals so far namely Utsav 2002 , Utsav 2003, Utsav 2004 and Utsav 2005. Utsav 2005-06 was celebrated on 15th February 2006 with high level participations
Extramural Lecture Series (EML)
The Institute organises the guest lectures to keep the students abreast of current corporate practices. Eminent personalities from various organizations are invited to the Institute regularly for interaction with the students.
Case writing workshop
The Institute has started organising the Case writing workshops to develop new cases on various areas pertaining to Indian business scenario and instilling the better understanding in the students of management about the functioning of Indian organisations.
Summer training
Summer Training is an essential component of PIMD curriculum, which provides practical exposure to students. Every student is required to undergo generalized training in which one has to look into all the aspects regarding the functioning and running of an organization and also study and analyze the practical problems of the stream in which they are specializing. The students are trained by their in-plant guides for the specific project offered by the companies. Summer training is arranged for the students of M.B.A. third semester. Undergraduate students are also provided summer training facility to a limited extent
